Pick your network in one tap.

Switcher 5G is a free, open-source Android app that moves your phone between 5G SA, 5G NSA and 4G LTE. It uses Shizuku, root, ADB or the hidden RadioInfo menu.

Android 8.0 or newerNo telemetryMIT license

Preview of the three network modes

5G SA (NR only)Standalone 5G. Phone uses only the 5G core network.

Everything you need to control your connection

Built for people who want 5G SA when it works and a fast way back when it does not.

One-tap mode switching

Switch between 5G SA, 5G NSA and 4G LTE from one screen. No digging through hidden menus.

Four ways to switch

Shizuku, root, direct ADB or the RadioInfo menu. Auto mode tries them in order, so it just works.

Quick Settings tile and widget

Change mode from the status bar or your home screen. Three tiles and a widget, no app launch needed.

Dual-SIM selection

Pick SIM 1 or SIM 2, or let the app find the SIM that carries your data.

Live signal readout

Watch RSRP, RSRQ, band and signal level update while you switch. See what each mode does to your connection.

Predictive back and depth blur

Swipe back to preview the previous screen, with rounded corners and a soft blur behind. Both can be turned off.

Material You colors

Follows your wallpaper on Android 12+. Or choose from curated palettes, AMOLED black and seven fonts.

Scriptable

Trigger a switch from Termux or ADB with a broadcast or a switcher5g:// link.

Set up in three steps

Most people are switching modes in under two minutes.

  1. Install the app

Download the APK from the download page and install it. Allow installs from your browser or file manager when Android asks.

  2. Authorize Shizuku or root

Start Shizuku with Wireless debugging and grant permission, or approve the superuser prompt if your phone is rooted.

  3. Tap a mode

Choose 5G SA, 5G NSA or 4G LTE, then tap Apply. Add the tile or widget to switch without opening the app.

Compatibility and requirements

Switching needs one engine. Pick whichever suits your phone.

Android 8.0 or newer

Predictive back needs Android 14. Dynamic colors need Android 12.

A SIM and a plan that allows 5G

The app sets your preference. Your carrier decides what the network offers.

Shizuku notes

Wireless debugging start works on Android 11+. After a reboot, start Shizuku again unless you have root.

Common questions

Setup, safety and why a mode might not stick.

Read all answers

5G NSA (non-standalone) uses 5G radio with an LTE network helping in the background. Most carriers started here. 5G SA (standalone) uses a full 5G core network on its own. It can give lower latency, but only works if your carrier has turned it on. 4G LTE keeps the phone off 5G completely.

In the app these map to NR_ONLY (SA), NR_LTE (NSA) and LTE_ONLY.

  1. Install the Shizuku app and open it.
  2. On Android 11 or newer, turn on Developer options, then Wireless debugging, pair, and tap Start in Shizuku. On older versions, or without Wi-Fi, start it from a computer with the ADB command Shizuku shows.
  3. Open Switcher 5G and tap Request Shizuku Permission. Allow it.
  4. Pick a mode and tap Apply.

The setup dialog inside Switcher 5G can copy the ADB command for you, including a version for when you are already inside adb shell.

Shizuku started through Wireless debugging or ADB stops when the phone reboots. Start it again from the Shizuku app. If you have root, Shizuku can start itself on boot, which avoids this.

If your phone is rooted with Magisk, KernelSU or APatch, set the engine to Root (or leave it on Auto) and tap Grant Root (su) Access. Approve the superuser prompt. Then choose your SIM slot and mode.

  • Engine not ready. Shizuku is not running, permission was not granted, or root was denied.
  • Carrier does not support it. Many networks do not offer 5G SA. The phone accepts the setting but stays on NSA or LTE.
  • Wrong SIM. On dual-SIM phones, check that the right slot is selected.
  • Phone firmware blocks it. Some phones ignore the request. Try the RadioInfo engine and set the type there.

If it still fails, send us a bug report. See the support page.
